The Arbutus Beach Cottage is conveniently located at the top of the Sunshine Coast near Powell River, BC, providing a great launching spot for adventure. Many world-renowned destinations are within minutes of the cottage such as Savary Island, Desolation Sound Marine Park, Powell Lake and the Sunshine Coast Trail.



How to get here, starting from Vancouver, BC -- a trip of about 100 miles northwest of Vancouver, 5 hours by car & ferry or a 30 minute flight.

By car, take the Sunshine Coast Ferry from Horseshoe Bay. Then drive about an hour and 20 minutes along scenic coastal highway 101 North, passing through Gibsons & Sechelt to Earl's Cove. A second ferry (crossing time 50 minutes) takes you to Saltery Bay -- click the links for realtime schedules. Continue following highway 101 North through Powell River (which has all amenities from groceries to liquor to adventure outfitters). After passing the Norske Skog Pulp & Paper Mill in the old townsite, you will cross a bridge over Powell Lake -- start clocking your odometer -- the cottage is now about 9 miles (some 15 minutes) away. Atrevida Road has a large pasture and green mailboxes adjacent to the highway, turn left here and the Arbutus Beach Cottage is located at 3391 Atrevida Road.

Powell River is also easy to access from Vancouver Island using the Comox - Powell River BC ferry.
